Welcome to the Land of High Passes! On arrival at Leh Airport, meet our local tour representative and transfer to your hotel. Take complete rest to acclimatize to the high altitude (11,000 ft). In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk around the old Leh town for self-orientation. Later, visit the Shanti Stupa, built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura — an iconic white-domed monument offering panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding landscape. After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (18,380 ft) — the world’s highest motorable pass. Stop to capture stunning views of the snow-clad Himalayas and Leh town below. Descend to Nubra Valley, once an ancient caravan route connecting India to Central Asia. On arrival, visit the Diskit Monastery, the largest in Nubra, famous for its majestic Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. After breakfast, embark on an excursion to Turtuk Village, the last village on the Indian side of the border. Turtuk, located close to the Siachen Glacier, was opened to tourists only in 2010 and retains its Baltic culture and heritage. Experience the village’s unique landscape, culture, and food, very different from other parts of Ladakh. The lush green farms, apricot orchards, and warm hospitality make this visit memorable. After breakfast, drive to the mesmerizing Pangong Lake via Shyok route, one of the most scenic drives in Ladakh. Located at 13,900 ft, Pangong Tso is the highest saltwater lake in the world, stretching over 130 km. After breakfast, leave for Hanle, one of Ladakh’s most remote and beautiful regions, passing through Chumathang. Admire the untouched landscapes and vast plateaus along the way. Hanle is known for its astounding night skies and is home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the world’s highest observatories.
